The
Scene
It's hard to stand out when you're next door to the distinctive
Superdome, the New Orleans Arena manages just that: In color and
shape, from the outside its unique façade resembles nothing so
much as an eight-faceted crystal. Inside, a large cube of replay
screens hangs ominously in the cavernous space, the centerpiece
of a utilitarian design boasting easily-adaptable seating
configurations and luxury skyboxes.
The Draw
The Arena's size and capacity (upwards of 17,000) attract those
music and sporting events too large for the Keifer Lakefront
Arena yet not quite big enough for the Superdome: Think Bruce
Springsteen, Britney Spears, Shania Twain, an NBA exhibition
game, touring ice shows and the World Wrestling Federation. It's
also the home of the New Orleans Brass and stands ready to host
an NBA team, should one become available. |
